Art can be explained as many things. It can be a guide for children, teaching them the ways of their ancestors. It can be used to show people you true emotions without any verbal content needed. The picture above shows a cave drawing that was most likely used to teach children, probably males, which animals to hunt and which animals to stay away from. This style of drawing was helpful because I didn’t require verbal teaching, and was also easy for children to understand because they could see what to do and not do. Take the book gathering blue by Lois Lowry. In the story, a person called the singer is taught at a young age a long song about the history of the world. In order to remember the story, he is given a robe and Cane with pictures and carvings that take place in the song. Although this art is beautiful, it is actually used to teach and bind the singer, and the artists, to whatever the guardians want the people to know. So, although most people believe that art is defined as something beautiful and filled with the emotions of the artist, it can also be used to teach young males the hunting rituals, or to control a population of people.
Art is something that has a positive role in human nature. An argument for this is in Gathering blue. Gathering Blue gives special people an escape form the normal world. For Kira she is a seamstress who is has a special talent at sewing and is spared her life. This shows how art can help people who are not the best of times. When cavemen walked the earth they would draw on the walls and ceilings as a way of teaching. They had not established writing, so art was there main way to teach and it was the only way. They also taught them how to hunt with art. Art has given everyone advantages in some way of their life. Art also became a warning system as shown as the picture on the webpage. It can warn people about what is happening and can tell them things. It can also show how people have been killed or hurt. Art is also a way for a lot of people to express themselves. For me art is way of letting out emotions. There is no proof of cavemen doing this, but if the scientists say we are so alike, why is this any different?
Art has a significant role in human society. Since the dawn of the thinking man, art has been abundant both on the walls of caves as seen in the picture, and in other forms. Sculptures, clothing, paintings, etc… Art is in every civilization from every time period. I believe that art though, plays multiple roles in human life. Art as shone in these caves could have been a visual library of sorts that instructed the young on the various skills required to hunt the animals depicted in the pictures. In many civilizations and times, art played an important role in educating people. Secondly, art can display one’s status. Many civilizations used bone necklaces or elaborate animal hide clothing to display status or interests. Thousands of years later, this is still happening. The President wears a fine suit, a prince would wear wonderful garments, the kid who lives across from you wears a T-shirt with Jeff Foxworthy saying “You might be a redneck…” on the back. In Gathering Blue, art was of very high importance and not many had fine clothing. The council of Elders, being considered important entities by the townsfolk, had finer clothing. Art in clothing is defiantly used by humans today and thousands of years ago to signify their place in their society. Lastly, art is used to express feelings towards what was currently happening. Many pictures from the past depict terrible events from the Black Plague, smallpox, and Bush being elected into office but art also can show great things. Pictures of prosperous times while the painter, weaver, carver, writer, whoever, was sitting on a hill under a tree pouring pictures of a prosperous city or a wonderful event such as a wedding or reunion. In conclusion, art is used for many things in human life. Art has been used for teaching, recording events, showing your status in society, expressing your feelings and thoughts and a plethora of other things. The concept of art has been with the human race for tens of thousands of years and shall be with us for tens of thousands of years to come, playing its many roles in the human race.
The role of art in human life is to show how we express our feelings in our paintings, and drawings. When artist paint, draw they are telling stories. Sometimes the stories relates to the artist, sometimes it relates to just anything that is going trough the persons mind. Like when cave men drew on the walls, they usually told stories about how they hunted an animal or how what types of there are. This shows how art plays an important part in human’s life. With out art we wouldn’t have been able to see what life was like 100+ plus years ago because there was no such thing has a camera, T.V., etc. But because of art we have been able to see what life was like 100+ years ago, so we can relate to how much things in art and in culture has changed has time went on. In class when we looked at the cave drawings on the Internet, we were looking at what did these cave drawings mean? And we said that each drawing we saw probably had this little story to it, like these are the animals that they hunted, the animals that were around during that time period. With out those cave drawings we might not of figured out what type of animals were supposedly around and hunted that time period.
What is the role of art in human life? The role of art in human life is to document history, and to help shape an opinion of what the future will be like. An example of this is in the book Gathering Blue. In the story, art is used to teach people of the past so that it is not forgotten. This is important because it reminds people of their mistakes so that they are not made again. It reminds people of the past, and the struggle that people went through. This way, these mistakes will not be repeated. In the story, art was also used to depict the future. The art implied that the future couldn’t be ignored. If there is something you can do to make the world a better place in the future, you need to do it. Kira realizes this as the story moves forward. She realizes that although it would be easier to sit back and ignore everything and move on with her life, she realizes in the long run its better to make a change: she realizes that by telling people of her opinion of what the future will be like, she could totally change peoples lives in the future. Another example of where art is important is in Genesis. God shapes the man out of sand, and then the woman out of a rib. In a way, God is sort of manipulating and changing the future. Just by doing something as simple as creating a sculpture is going to depict the whole outcome of the world. Art is a huge factor in this story because without the sculptures God made, there would be no mankind. In conclusion, art is important to mankind because it helps document the past, and it helps to shape the future.
Art When art was discovered back in the Stone Age it was shared among the people. From cave paintings to musical instruments art was treasured and served a purpose. Cave paintings told of animals and hunting expeditions. While songs showed emotion and thoughts. These types of art helped connect different cultures together. Just look at us now. We have learned a lot about our ancestors through the art that they left behind. Stories passed down through paintings have lived longer than written documents. The role of art in human life is to tell stories, connect cultures, and teach the ways of the past. Art found in caves in Europe show how the people of the Stone Age lived. It is important to decipher the meaning of these paintings, so that we will know how our ancestors lived. In Gathering Blue the Singer’s Robe and the walking stick are pieces of amazing art that portray the history of the community. Everyone treasures these two things of beauty. Cave paintings found in Europe may have been made so that certain paintings were made in areas that had different acoustics. This means that if you walked through the cave playing a flute, there would be different parts of the cave that made the flute sound differently. Obviously art was a big part of culture. It helps illiterate and visual people learn more than words on paper. Art also is enjoyable to look at and decipher. Early art has helped scientists to make connections between different cultures. Stone Age cave art and musical instruments have been found all over the globe, from Europe to Australia. This helps scientists discover how different types of Hominids lived. Because of art, we now know roughly where hominids originated from, and what paths they traveled. Art helped adult hominids teach their children how and where to hunt and find food, along with what creatures to stay away from. Cave paintings found in Europe seem to depict what animals are to be hunted, and what animals need to be avoided. This example shows that early hominids took art seriously and used it in many different ways. Art is and was an important part of life to a lot of people. Whether they were intelligent or not, art has always been a crucial part of a society. It doesn’t matter if the art is made for fun, or to teach important things to the young, art helps communities connect. Paintings and music will always help tell stories, connect cultures, and teach the ways of the past.
The role that art plays in human life is a key one. Art has many different forms, each having some significance. There is the media end, the visual or painting end, and the live entertainment form. The media end consists of what news we see on television, magazines, and newspapers. The visual aspect of art is that of paintings or drawings. This is probably the most common form of art. There is also live entertainment, which consists of music or theatrical productions. All these forms of art are very important to our everyday life; they tie into our culture, way of life, and view of others.
Art is one of the main items that influences how we spend each day. As “The Dawn of Creativity” stated, back in the times of the Ice Age, there were cave paintings that depicted certain scenes of the past. These paintings based how each person alive back then would live. Some showed the hunting patterns where others showed who and what to worship during ceremonies. Another way that art plays an important role in human life is in Gathering Blue. Art affected the people in Gathering Blue because it shaped the way they thought of their culture. The ceremony that was held once a year told about the history of their culture. The ceremony used two forms of art as well. It used the live entertainment aspect by having the Singer sing the long tale while he wore a robe that consisted of the visual aspect of art. The robe told the story as well. Without art in the ceremony, the history might have been different which would mean their culture would have changed. Lastly, art affects how we look out upon each other. The current day forms of media have a drastic affect on what we think of as “proper” or “correct”. The whole 9/11 tragedies could have been avoided if the media had shown a different message. As Ali Salem said in “An Apology From An Arab”, the terrorists that carried out these attacks believed that Americans looked down on them. I think that this really isn’t the case and that it just appears that way because of the way the media displays it. If the media took a different angle to the whole issue and shows all the positive ways that we think of Arab’s, the issue could have possibly been avoided.
Art blends into our lives on a daily basis. It impacts our culture, way we live each day, and how we think of others. Paintings of the history affect our culture and the way we live each day. The form of “media art” affects how we think of each other, as shown in “An Apology From an Arab”. Without art life would be a lot duller with not as much spice or interesting aspects of culture. Art is has one of the biggest roles in human life.
Art has a huge role in human society. Art is a huge part of human culture because art has been around for many years and it is in the very fabrics of our ancestors. While art is not such a big deal today back in ancient times art was some of the best values in their culture. An example of this is cavemen and their ability to draw markings on the wall. This might be the earliest example of art and its importance to culture. Another example of art and its importance to human life is from Gathering Blue when Kira has to make the singers robe. To that community, that is such a big deal that the robe looks nice, is because the art tells a story of the past and also what is to come. You can tell that is a huge part of that community. The last example of art and its importance to human life is also back when cavemen were around. They used drawings as part of culture, to show what animals that they should hunt, and also as decoration some say. While none of this is proved, it is definitely proven to be true that they did in fact use art. While they might have used it differently back a long time ago, art is still as important then as it is now.
The role of art in human life is essential. It is everywhere we go. Whether it’s the houses and buildings that surround us, or the beautiful paintings done by a select few, art is just a wonderful thing in life. The common man or woman would state that art is just a picture, a painting, or a piece of writing. I am here to tell you that statement is way off of what the true meaning really is. Most people take art for granted, but really with out it we wouldn’t have anything. No homes to live in, cloths to wear, laptops to type on, or pretty much all that we are known to would not exist. Art dates way back to millions of years ago. Cave paintings (like the one in the picture on the blog page) or carvings are examples of art way back when. The species Homo Erectus were the first to wear clothing, and that clothing came from an artistic idea. Homo Habilis was called the skillful person because of the way they crafted different materials, and carved objects. Australopithecus were said to have used tools in a unique way, and created different things with their skills, such as spears. These few examples show how art is essential and valued in human life. With out those occurrences, and different ways of creativity, we wouldn’t have all of the artistic abilities that we have today. Even the slightest things such as the cave painting or the carved tools have helped us become more sophisticated in our art. I strongly believe that art is an amazing thing, and with out it we wouldn’t be as educated as we are. Art helps people learn, it cheers people up, and most importantly it is where ever you are. All in all I feel that the role of art in human life is crucial in order to move forward and become more advanced with our society.
The role of art is crucial to human life for many reasons. Look around yourself, art is covered everywhere in many different shapes and sizes. Anything from the photography on walls to the design of your pencil, art is a major part of the human world. The history, meaning, and creativity are the three main roles of art. Thought by some as only boards with color and pottery with unique shape, art can contain much more meaning than what it shown. Dating back thousands of years, art has been spotted all throughout caves and rock walls. Giving information to today’s world, society can learn about historic events and cultures through art. The article “The Dawn of Creativity” goes in depth about this topic. With various bone harpoons and cave paintings, scientists can track the age of these markings giving everyone ideas on life before written language. Through art, we can track migration changes, cultures, and hunted animals of the time. Overall, without the use of art before written language, the human world would know very little about the prehistoric humans many years ago. Secondly, the importance of which art brings is also a role in society. Paintings all over the world are cherished and valued at unbelievable values. Many pieces of art have also been used to ward of spirits or as a religious symbol. Old artifacts such as bone flutes and cave paintings can give extraordinary importance and meaning. People can interpret art in many different ways, leaving many famous pieces discussed around the world. In many cultures, art is one of the most important pieces of life. Lastly, the creativity art presents is remarkable. The sophisticated tools used 40,000 years ago are breathtaking. Tools in shapes of animals give background to the art piece. Also, creativity in art doesn’t have to be with just using your hands. Scientists have discovered how sound vibrations inside ancient caves have gone along with the paintings provided on the sides. All in all, the sky’s the limit when it comes down to creativity in art. In conclusion, art has shaped our views on human life. Whether it be the prehistoric humans years and years ago, or today’s people, art can be used as a major expression and symbolization with all things in life.
Art has a big role in human life. This picture symbolizes what it was like for the species of their time. Also it symbolizes how the animals were surviving back then and how they would fight to gain their meals. This picture is important to the humans because they could look back at what happened a long time ago and they can use it for evidence. Another example of how art has a big role in life is when in Gathering Blue Kira received the job to work on the singers robe. She demonstrated great art on the robe and all of different sections symbolized different events that happened in the past relating to their village. The robe had a great meaning to her and all the people in the village. This was similar to the drawing shown. My last example is in the article The Dawn of Creativity it shows that the ice age cave art was very magnificent. There was a discovery in France of two caves filled with animal paintings on the wall. The paintings played a very important role in human society. The ice age drawings symbolized the “hunting magic” helped to design to show how they succeeded. Also some of the tools that they made were included in the painting, this is like the events of history Kira made. The paintings were not only made in the Ice Age Europe. They have also occurred in Africa and Australia, in the same era.
To Sam’s message: I agree with what you said about how art is used for many aspects such as teaching the tricks of the trade of hunting. Of course, I think many more things that that have been learned and passed on from art too such as various religions or instructions on how to use tools or build. Just look at those Egyptian pictures of them toiling at their pyramids or designing tools for that environment. I also agree with you on the aspect of art being used to display somebody’s emotions or feelings. It is a very good way to let out emotions and it has indeed been used for that of the course of the years. But one thing, you shouldn’t make such a broad claim that no evidence of art has been used to show emotions in cavemen. I believe that many groups of cavemen across many cave paintings have expressed themselves through their art. Though not in text we read, I saw a program showing paintings of people weeping from lost hunters during a big game hunt. Also, do a grammar check on your text next time. ☺
Use evidence from the picture above along with other texts to answer this question.
The role of art in human life is to describe history. This is expressed through multiple themes throughout many texts. The picture above is an example of a scene taken from a cave painting. In the article, “The Dawn of Creativity”, cave paintings were used to sketch what was going on during the time. A way of documenting history. Lots of the cave sketches were about animals hunts going on, or ceremonies that took place. Obviously, millions of years ago, people didn’t know how to write, so they drew events that took place. Since people couldn’t read either, pictures were drawn so everyone could understand what happened. Another example of how art plays a role in human nature is by describing the history of the village in the novel, Gathering Blue. In the novel, the Singer’s robe was used as a mural through fabric. The mural illustrated life before the Ruin, which was the end of civilization. It showed burning buildings, and other events that happened. The Singer then wore the robe during the Ceremony for all the citizens to admire. This reminded the people of the past history in the community. Kira’s job was to weave the robe so all the people could view it and understand what took place during the past. Lastly, since art shows history, it also shows the truth about the past history. In Gathering Blue, Kira learned the truth about here community through weaving the robe (art) that told of the past. Kira discovered the village’s history and how the Council of Guardians were forcing people to be what they wanted them to be and hide things from them. Through others and constructing the robe, Kira found these terrible truths and decided how she was going to change them, which is why she didn’t leave in the end with her father. Kira knew that if she kept weaving the robe, then she could make her own history throughout the village the way it should be. Therefore, Kira wanted to change her community so she could weave that change onto the robe. She was going to change history so in many years later, the robe would tell of good stories. Therefore, the role of art in human life shows history. It tells of things that happened in the past. Long ago the only way people could document the events that took place was through drawings. When examining them, one can tell a lot about past events that took place.
Art is something that has always been a part of culture- and culture is something that has always been a part of human life. In other words, art and human life just go together, like peanut butter and jelly. Art is considered necessary for mankind, used for everything ranging from religion to recording history to teaching. Art is necessary for human culture and used in many different ways. In the cave drawing pictured above, the ancient ancestor of the homo sapiens probably used it for recording history or for showing the younger ones what to hunt for food. If that society hadn’t drawn this picture, it would have been very difficult to advance- their hunters would be uneducated, having to relearn what to hunt for. Another example of why art was considered more of a necessity than a leisurely activity in ancient times is the headband that was made of carnivore’s teeth and the ivory beads sewn into clothing, each bead taking about an hour to make. Such time wouldn’t be spent on art if it were considered unimportant. Even thousands upon thousands of years later, using the novel Gathering Blue by Lois Lowry as an example, art was considered a necessity. The robe and staff of the singer were of such importance they were only shown on an annual ceremony. Art was used in this example as a way of recording history- the robe depicts pictures of the fall of humanity, buildings collapsing and fires burning. This was considered vital to their society, needing to show the past mistakes of mankind to keep the people from making them again. Art has been a part of our culture, used in many different ways. Even in current times, art is used to get messages across or to help teach those who need a different way of learning than just words. To summarize, art is considered necessary- it’s part of human culture, religion, education, history. Without art, it’s very possible the little hunters would never have learned what to hunt for, would never have gotten meat, and no advancements would have been made. Art has and always will be an important part of society.
Comment: I enjoyed reading this opinion by brandon jacobs. It was nicely described and told his perspective on art and how it has been used around the world. It also went into good description of the different types of artwork. However, I didn’t pick up on three specific examples from different sources. Brandon made a reference to the “Dawn of Creativity,” many times, but that was the only specific text mentioned. I think Brandon started writing about the hominids, when he wrote of the animals making tool. Although, he didn’t mention that exact article that this information came from. Citing the article is critical. In addition, I think he could have taken a specific argument on what the role of art plays in human nature. Brandon described what art was, but I couldn’t find his argument. In conclusion, I think this was a well-written piece that has a lot of good thoughts, however, it can be more specific and include more examples from different sources.
I completely agree with srjnseven that art is used to document history. It is used to tell stories and warn of mistakes made in the past. In Gathering Blue by Lois Lowry, the Singers Robe and walking stick are used to tell of the community’s history. Also, Kira now has the opportunity to shape the future of the village. Art in Gathering Blue is special to that certain community, and every citizen is proud of the beauty of the Singers Robe. Art helps communities connect, thrive, and learn from past mistakes, because without art it would be tough to express ourselves in a way that others could understand.
I agree with what Bloggerific said about art being used as a way for cultures to connect, and I would like to bring in another example. In Lord of the Flies, Jack and his tribe impale a pig head on a stick as an offering to the Beast. That is art, although incredibly revolting. It is made with skill and is intended to be used for the quasi-religious worship of the Beast. That makes it no less art than the Sistine Chapel. The tribe uses it as a way to show their devotion to the beast; that makes it a center point of their culture.
I agree with what Berry Berry said that art is a way to describe history. Since there was no written language for some time, all people had to rely on was art. As Berry Berry said, there were times when art was used to tell about what was going o in the time. This is a huge stepping stone of modern civilization because language, reading, and writing had to have started somewhere and that is with art. I also like the point that was made about past and future. If we can see our past by looking at art, than that can help human beings see what will happen in the future. If we can stop from our mistakes from the past, than we can stop mistakes from our future.
I agree with Marshawn Lynch in some parts of his explanation of how art plays a big role in Human life. Although he only stays to one reference, which I am guessing is the “Dawn of Creativity” I think he makes true statements on how Sometimes the stories relates to the artist, and sometimes it relates to just anything that is going trough the persons mind. I think this is true. I also disagree with that statement because it was his opinion and he did not receive it from a reference. Also he can go more in depth in his examples from the source. Overall it was pretty good and he had some good options
I enjoyed reading Brandon Jacobs’ response to the question: What is the role of art in human life? He answered it in a very sophisticated way. I agree with him that art is everywhere, and plays a very important role in our lives. He states the three sides to art: history, meaning, and creativity. All of which can possibly make up a piece of artwork. He nicely tied all three of those parts of the art puzzle into his writing. Using evidence from the Dawn Of Creativity, he made great comments on how the history of art has helped us learn. All in all I feel that the response written by Brandon Jacobs was a great one. He provided evidence from some text, and used other known facts to help him write the great response he did. Great job Brandon Jacobs.
I support durpenheimer’s use of Gathering Blue and how art/clothing represented individual status in the community – and how it still does today. I would like to add that in Gathering Blue, art does much more than display importance. The artists were guided by the Council of Guardians to record their history so they could pass on the knowledge to their own future generations. This models the art of cavemen, and how their art, probably intended to instruct or fascinate their own children, would later tell others the same tales to give us an idea of how they lived. After all, who’s to say that in a million years aliens might come along to our planet after we have died out? They won’t be able to understand our language, but the remnants of our civilization and art will describe how we used to live.
Art plays a very important role in human life. All throughout history, it has been both a crucial necessity, and a meaningful way of expression. For example, the art in “The Dawn of Creativity” was far from a result of large amounts of free time. It was created and used for reasons that were of great importance to the people living during that time. For instance, during the Ice Age Cineplex incredible examples of cave art were created. These amazing paintings seem to be an essential piece of the workings of society. They are thought to have been part of elaborate ceremonies, which may have been even more extravagant than some of the best displays of today.
Another example showing how important art is in human life comes from Lois Lowry’s Gathering Blue. In this book, there were three major pieces of art that helped to tell the story of the towns history. First there is the singer’s robe, which is a large cloak that has been stitched with beautifully colored threads showing the stories from history. Next, comes the staff. This piece of artwork is an intricately carved wooden staff that the singer holds during the song to remind him of the stories. Finally, there is the song. It is arguably the most important piece of art that comes into play during the Gathering, lasting for a very long time, and verbally telling about the history of the community.
Additional examples, coming from both “The Dawn of Creativity” and Gathering Blue, show how the importance of art in human life has to do with the personal meaning it has in people’s lives. To ancient humans, expressions of creativity were often quite meaningful. Pendants, beads, and decorated clothing were important to them because they were created to show a person’s status, among many other things. In Gathering Blue, a few of the pieces of art that Kira and Thomas create are very special to them and have sentimental value. For Kira, it is her piece of cloth. For Thomas, it is his little segment of carved wood.
Although most examples supporting my thesis have to do with either “The Dawn of Creativity” or Gathering Blue, there are still many other times throughout history during which art has been very important. Take modern times, for example. Art is used every day, and plays many important roles in our society. There is no question that it will continue to do so. In conclusion, it is quite clear that art is a vital part of human life.
I agreed with much of what brown dog said in his (I’m assuming) comment. I agree that art does have a very big role in human life (as I said in my comment). To go along with what his original thesis was good, solid evidence from a various array of texts. I like how he used the cave paintings to explain how art can save what happened in the past. His example of the singers robe in Gathering Blue was also a clever example of proving his point of art needed to explain the past. I liked reading the 3rd example of ice age paintings as well, however I think he could have explained its relevance a little better. He started out the example with “My last example is in the article The Dawn of Creativity it shows that the ice age cave art was very magnificent” which doesn’t really show how it relates to art being important, just that it looked good. Later he explains but I think if he stated it there it would have been easier to comprehend. Overall, great job brown dog!
Art is a tremendous part of the human life because it is a way for us to express ourselves and to communicate with others. One example of this would be in Gathering Blue. Art is used as form of communication in the singer’s robe because it is used as a way to inform the rest of the people in the town of events in the past the happened. Another example of communication and expression in Gathering Blue is the singer’s song. Similar to the robe, the song is meant to tell the people in the town of the past and what happened. Communication used in the form of art is all around us, from paintings to songs, and even wood and rock carvings. Cave paintings are a great example of art as communication. Each and every cave painting has a story and a purpose, and often that purpose is to teach or communicate to others. Cave paintings might tell a story of a great hunt of the tribe or an event that was special to a tribe, like those from the Dawn of Creativity. Another example of art being used as a form of communications is in song. In today’s world, songs are a big part of people’s lives. Some are written in order to tell us about a story in someone’s life and are used to communicate to others about it. Not only is art used to communicate with others, but it is also way for people to express themselves and be who they want to be. One example of this would be in Gathering Blue and the singer. Jo, the young singer wants to sing some of her own songs that she made and have fun singing. She likes to sing and it makes her feel good and she can express herself through her songs. Not only is what is going on in Gathering Blue, but also the book itself is a form of expression for Lois Lowery. The book is a way for to express herself and show what she thinks would happen in a village like the one in this book. Songs and books aren’t the only ways of using art to express oneself. Painting, music, sculpting and carving are all ways of expressing yourself in the form of art, and they are used in many ways. Art is much more than something we see, hear, touch, or read. Art is a big part of the human life and we could not live without it.
I do agree that art is an expression of our feelings through paintings and drawings. However, I don’t think that the author had enough specific evidence supporting his reasoning. More evidence should’ve been brought up from the texts that we have been reading all year. For example, Kira, Thomas, and Jo used art as a way of expression before this freedom was taken away from them in Lois Lowry’s Gathering Blue.
In addition, Marshawn Lynch’s position on the subject seemed a little vague. About halfway through the blog, the author switched over to a different argument- without art we wouldn’t have been able to see what life was like 100+ years ago. Although this may be true, it doesn’t really seem to have much to do with the previously stated argument. Basically, I think that this blogger should have chosen one argument and stuck with it using supporting evidence throughout the whole paragraph.
Art plays an extremely important role in human life. Not only is art used to express the ideas ad emotions of different cultures, it is a way to create images that show history and techniques in which the culture can show to the future. For an example, in the article “Dawn of Creativity”, tons of homo sapien and Neanderthal paintings were found in caves that show different ways of life that the people lived. To those who cannot read, art is a way to visually show the events and make the images come to life in its own story. In class, we discussed how when the Vatican was built. It was a time when many could not read. So, enable to tell religious stories such as the bible, to those who believed in the religion but had not seen the evidence; using art let people visually understand the stories that they had heard. Also, in “Dawn of Creativity” cave paintings showed specific beads, clothes and bone needles that signaled a person’s clan and status. Without a written language, art was critical and the only choice these early humans had in telling their culture. Many paintings were also religious pictures of god’s and goddess’. How else could these cavemen express their religious views, and pass the story on to many generations to come? Also, in the book we read over the summer “Gathering Blue”, art was one of the most important things in the society. The people of the book suffered many tragedies and historical events that were worth explaining to the future. With massive deaths and destruction, a cloak was made to tell stories and had been around for many, many generations. Enable to understand what their ancestors went through, the cloak contained specific images made of cloth to tell the stories. This Singer’s robe was the most important thing of all in the town. The cloak was made specifically so the future could sing and be reminded of what they went through, and to have spaces left for future events. Kira had the most important role of all, and that was to re-thread the cloak using her artistic ability. This shows how art plays an important role in human life, Lastly, in “Dawn of Creativity”, art was used to show the different tools and weapons the early humans used to hunt with. As a reminder, a message, and perhaps a religious practice; so many paintings were found of people hunting for food. Considering meat was so valuable to these paintings, art was very important for them to draw the different techniques they used to kill their prey. Dating back tens of thousands of years ago, making marks of your culture was critical. The only way to assure that these important messages were to be viewed by the future was the way of art. I conclusion, art plays an extremely important role in human life. Not only is art used to express the ideas ad emotions of different cultures, it is a way to create images that show history and techniques in which the culture can show to the future.
Comment: I enjoyed taking in the response by Delta. Beautifully crafted, it branches off into his three main bases of art. This being the visual, media, and live entertainment forms. Relating his arguments to both present and past, he clearly persuades the importance of art in human nature. Referencing sources to “The Dawn of Creativity”, Gathering Blue, and “An Apology From An Arab”, they all support his thoughts. Delta also includes a conclusion paragraph, creating the trunk of the tree to connect all the branches of his thesis. Each source and branch flows into one of the three aspects of importance. These aspects include the tie into culture, way of life, and view of others. Each part of the thesis is clearly back-upped with strong evidence. I agree with all the points Delta makes and feel they are quite accurate. Knowing more personally about his points directing toward present events, I found his connection to the media in 9/11 very creative and intriguing. Small improvements that could’ve been made include his underlining of the novel Gathering Blue as well as more evidence on the impact art makes on the telling of history. The history in art is a huge part of its importance and a little more information may have improved it. Overall, this is a very well written response by Delta.
The blog entry is not very smooth and seems to be very wordy. Starting off the first couple sentences, the author uses the word huge twice in a row, and could easily mend the first two sentences into one. The author claims that art is not very big deal today. I strongly disagree with this statement. Art plays a crucial and critical role today in not only our culture, but in all cultures. Also, the author consistently talks about how art was crucial to cavemen, however not once do they state evidence from where they know this. Simply saying "Dawn of Creativity" would make the entry reasonable, but not stating where they know this information on cavemen is unacceptable. Another thing the author needs to do is underline Gathering Blue because it is a book and the information they are using that somebody else wrote. Basically, the author shows limited understanding of what role art plays in human life. There is not enough writing and the entire entry is not clear. The author possibly rushed.
I agree with jackbauer art is paramount to our society and without it we are lost. Jack put it best we couldn't have houses, laptops and other things. Everywhere we go we are surrounded by art without art most of us would be like chickens with our heads cut off. Image your text, now without pictures how uneducated with our society would be without it. If you ever look up the word art the definition is so brood, because art can't be explained. Jack said art goes back millions of years ago, which is true it is a way of speaking and talking to one another and through time it has only progressed.
In response to Jack Bauer... I wholeheartedly agree with Jack Bauer. He/she makes a good point in stating that art is essential, and in our every day life. Art is the clothes we wear on our body, the houses we live in, the chairs we sit on. We are surrounded by art. This is why it is necessary to our lives. Art has been around for millions of years, and has had millions of uses, including telling history through cave drawings. Art is an important, vital part of our lives, and has been for billions of years.
I agree to what Sam said, because he is right art has a positive role in human nature. His argument for his example from Gathering Blue was very good, by saying how art preformed a big role in the book. Also his example on how art has given people advantages in any way in their life. He made a great point when he said art lets people express their feelings that his true, because when you see paintings its usually the artists way of expressing himself.

What is the role of art in human life?
Art
When art was discovered back in the Stone Age it was shared among the people.

Art
They have also occurred in Africa and Australia, in the same era.
hi everyone
To Sam’s message:
I agree with what you said about how art is used for many aspects such as teaching the tricks of the trade of hunting. ☺
What is the role of art in human life?
Comment:
I enjoyed reading this opinion by brandon jacobs.
Reply to durpenheimer’s first comment:

What is the role of art in human life?
In response to Marshawn Lynch:
This shows how art plays an important role in human life,
Lastly, in “Dawn of Creativity”, art was used to show the different tools and weapons the early humans used to hunt with.

I enjoyed taking in the response by Delta.
In Response to Iheartblogging...
